After discovering a shower leak related to improper installation by a prior owner, we realized we likely needed to do a complete remodel of the only full bathroom in our house. We met with a few contractors willing to take on the project, and buildPROS were our first choice for a number of reasons. Rouben (the owner) is knowledgeable, kind, and sincere, and seemed excited to take on our project and work with us. As someone who used to work with spreadsheets and data for a living, I especially appreciated the project spreadsheet that laid out line by line was estimated and real costs were, particularly because we could see what impact design decisions we made had on the bottom line as we progressed. We ended up spending more than we initially thought we would, not because of anything buildPROS did wrong, but because we saw what was actually possible with a team like theirs -- we were able to dream bigger than we thought. Every single person that came to our house was friendly and professional, and they made valiant efforts to not disrupt our lives any more than they had to. We did not hire a designer but instead made nearly all design choices ourselves, with some inspired additions from Rouben and his team (shout out to the angled shower!). There were some hiccups along the way that were impossible to foresee (for example, notched floor joists that needed to be sistered) but everyone took things in stride and addressed each issue as it came up. We also felt like we could reach out at any point and discuss things that weren't exactly right, and Rouben and his team were really responsive in taking care of any small details that needed fine-tuning. The end result is a bathroom that we absolutely love. It is better than anything we ever imagined and it has added so much to our home and quality of life. Over the years, we hired numerous contractors having windows and roofs, etc. replaced multiple times because none of them stood by their work, it left a bad taste in our mouth, with trusting anyone. With the back of our house being stucco, we dealt with superficial cracks and deterioration that ultimately allowed water damage over the years. Last year, my wife and I decided to search for yet another contractor that would be able to hopefully solve our issues with the back of the house and remove the stucco. After talking with four different contractors, we settled with Rouben and his build pros team. The stucco removal on the back of our house was no easy task and made us nervous because we had tile on the walls on the inside of the house that we didn’t want damaged but Rouben kept reassuring us not to worry, and he would take care of us. Framing and structural portions of the wall behind the stucco were rotted and ultimately had to be reframed, nothing was covered up, Orlando was one of his team leaders and was in constant communication with me anytime they found something I should know about he would text and / or call me with pictures. Working with him and his team was like a breath of fresh air to finally find someone out there that not only did the job right but cared! Hopefully this review makes sense. Consultant came out, took pictures and videos of my basement stairwell which has become extremely dangerous that we need replaced. They said I would receive a quote within a couple of weeks. From design to finished product he was there for us, offered suggestions like the unique but subtle tile placement over the stove for a design pop. He was available and willing to answer questions. They are honest, saved our subfloor as it didn’t need replacement. As with any remodel things come up but they were always addressed immediately. After shopping around we found build pros pricing to be very good and he seems to actually care about his clients. We decided to have our fence redone with Rouben and Build Pros based on our kitchen remodel experience. They have great people but special shout out to Altino who did an amazing job on our kitchen and fence! Also if you are wondering like I was, don’t be afraid to ditch your old peninsula.
